MCU: 10 Captain America Scenes That Prove He’s The Best

As far as MCU superheroes are concerned, Captain America isn’t the one winning popularity polls. Many people don’t like him that much because of his no-nonsense, clean-cut personality. However, Captain America has just as many fans who like him for the hero and person he is. Chris Evans’ performance played a big part in making Captain more relatable to the audience, even though he might still come across as larger than life sometimes.

Captain America has been a part of the MCU for almost a decade which gave Steve Rogers enough opportunities to shine. Some of his scenes then make people easily see why is Steve such a respected superhero.

10 Steve’s Sacrifice

In his first solo movie’s finale, Steve Rogers sacrificed himself by crashing the plane into the water to make sure nobody else would die. Steve had no idea that he would survive the ordeal.

Although he woke up almost 70 years later, with the exception of Peggy, everyone he knew and cared about was dead. True superheroes are willing to sacrifice themselves, and Steve did just that.

9 His First Kiss With Peggy

Steve’s first kiss with Peggy happens when they’re pursuing Red Skull and Steve is about to embark on the journey that will end up with him crashing into the ice. However, neither Steve nor Peggy knows this at the moment, so their kiss isn’t filled with dread.

It isn’t goodbye, it’s a promise that better things are to come. It’s a brief moment but a sweet one nonetheless, with a touch of humor as well, thanks to Colonel Phillips who assures stunned Steve that he won’t be kissing him.

8 Fighting Himself

Captain America has taken on many enemies during his life. But one of his most badass and memorable moments happens when he fights himself in Avengers: Endgame.

During their journey back in time to 2012, the younger Steve meets the older one and he believes that he’s facing Loki who just changed his appearance. The two Captain Americas battle it out but the older Steve comes out on top and manages to knock his younger self out.

7 Greeting Groot

Steve Rogers has come a long way in the MCU and he’s learned a lot. Even though he grew up in the first half of the twentieth century, Steve kept his mind open and accepted the existence of aliens as something perfectly plausible.

So when he meets Groot for the first time, he doesn’t get at all scared by a talking tree, and instead, he calmly introduced himself to Groot.

6 Fooling Hydra

In one of the funniest twists of the comics, Steve fools the Hydra and spares himself an unnecessary fight. When he decides to get the scepter out of the building and comes across a group of Hydra operatives in the elevator, instead of beating them, Steve just plays along and pretends he’s a member of the Hydra too – simply by saying “Hail Hydra.” It’s good proof that Captain America is also brains and not just brawn.

5 Fighting In The Elevator

Speaking of Hydra and elevators, there’s also the memorable elevator fight scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). Captain gets on the elevator, he’s surrounded by his enemies, the air is thick with tension, they all know things are about to go down.

Yet, Captain gives them the opportunity to get out of the elevator before he proceeds to take all the men down in a limited space – all that without barely breaking a sweat.

4 Taking On Thanos

Being a superhero isn’t only about winning. It’s also about finding the strength to overcome the fact that they lost and do something about it. That’s something Captain America’s got handled.

He stands against Thanos in Wakanda and does his best to get the gauntlet. And when he fails and they lose, he spends the next 5 years thinking how to make things better – until he and the Avengers manage it in the end and defeat Thanos for once and for all.

3 He Can Do It All Day

Captain America’s greatest character trait is his resilience. He never, ever gives up, even if his opponent is stronger, or he is tired or beaten, he keeps fighting.

He demonstrates his many times in the films. First when he stands against a bully who’s much larger than him, and also when he’s ready to take on Thanos and his whole army by himself if he has to. He can simply do this all day!

2 Lifting Mjolnir

The scene in which Captain America finally lifts Thor’s hammer Mjolnir to save Thor from Thanos is one of the most epic moments in the entire MCU. And it’s been coming for a long time since fans of the movies expected such a scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

But it took 4 years before Captain used Mjolnir to save the day. He did so with grace like he was used to wielding the powerful weapon for quite a long time.

1 Returning To Peggy

Finally, there’s also the case of Steve going back in time and living out his life with Peggy. It was a controversial move since many fans believed that Steve was selfish when he did this. However, after everything he’s been through (and Peggy as well), they deserved happiness.

Peggy missed Steve, he missed her, and even if it was a bit selfish, nobody’s perfect, not even Captain America. It only makes him seem more human. Plus, the writers suggested that Steve was always the father of Peggy’s children, and if that’s the case, then they were always meant to be in the end.
